Trail Length
Paved Road
Maximum Elevation

The cycling of Muzaka is one of the hardest tracks because of its mountainous relief and the rolling elevation. The length of this itinerary is 100 km and the elevation varies from 545.8 m to 1733.1 m above sea level. Lush greenery and panoramic views accompany you throughout this itinerary. The mountainous terrain will surely surprise with hills, natural springs, rivers, dense forests and mountain peaks all intertwining with each turn. Surely, a unique experience not available to most. Initially you start cycling through the national road going to Erseka and when you go past Mollaj, Kamenicë and Floq, you start the incline to the right towards Ujëbardhës. This incline of medium difficulty level takes you alongside the picturesque Gjançi Lake, the Village of Leshnja, on the Great Bridge of Osum, before you reach the beautiful Vithkuq that offers not just magnificent scenery but also a large number of churches and really interesting Byzantine Period monasteries. Once you go past the Church of Sh’Milli where you find the Baptismal Grave, you start the incline through the Rripa e Keqe towards Shtylla then past Çemerica to cycle through the alpine peaks of Ostrovica towards Opar and later descend towards the Valley of Devoll in the Gora region. The road is partially paved but keep in mind that the main segment Vithkuq-Lozhan incorporates a mountainous stretch that functions only during the dry season of spring and summer. This itinerary cannot be cycled in the course of one day, so we recommend you organize groups, camp along the trail or arrange for accommodations in the villages. We advise you use a mountain bike for this trail.
